DEATH OF HRH THE PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH

It was with great sadness of learning of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on Friday 9th April. He will be remembered with immense gratitude for his lifetime of service and devotion to Her Majesty, to our nation and to the Commonwealth.

The Chairman of Silchester Parish Council will be sending condolences from the people of Silchester to Her Majesty the Queen.

The Union Flag will be flying outside the Silchester Village Hall at half-mast until after the late Duke’s funeral.

Silchester Parish Council are setting up a Book of Condolence in memory of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. This will be available for signature in the porch of the Village Hall, during the daytime from Monday (12th) morning through to next Sunday (18th) evening. Given Covid rules, we are not able to provide pens.

Should anyone wish to lay flowers, these can be laid at the War Memorial. If anyone wishes to send condolences by e-mail they can do this by sending them to the Parish Clerk (clerk@silchester-pc.gov.uk). These will be printed and added to the Book.

In line with the Royal Family’s wishes, residents wanting to express their condolences are being encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, or one of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Patronages in his memory, instead of leaving floral tributes.
